Cover Process

From A to B

November 27, 2017

It took many iterations to settle on a design for my portfolio cover. The fact that it had to be handwritten was not a question, rather it was a question of execution. Initially, I freehanded a string of thoughts, and put them together into a large and unattractive block of text.

When that didn’t work, I knew I needed something more personal. I started with a portrait my friend Amanda Wangersheim took of me for one of her school projects, and began to superimpose writing over my face. Thus, my cover design was borne.
